Hardware Support for Students

This information is for undergraduate students. All systems purchased through UD's computer requirement are covered by a warranty on the original hardware. Hardware support is provided for  defective (not damaged) hardware components that originally came with your system and fall under the warranty. Service requests placed through the Help Desk are forwarded to our on-site Tangent technicians. When you call, we schedule an appointment for a technician to come to your residence. You must be in your room with the Tangent technician during the service call.

For faster service, you can arrange to bring your computer to the Tangent Repair Depot, which is located in Miriam Hall 26 or to the Help Desk. Repairs on all systems will be made as quickly as possible, but may necessitate a repair time of several days depending on severity or if a replacement part must be ordered. We do not accept service requests to install other hardware components such as zip drives, CD writers, hard drives, memory upgrades, etc. However, if you wish to install other hardware components, you may do so.

NOTE: UD recommends that all computer equipment be plugged into a surge protector.
